Bone and joint care
Orthopaedic treatment for dogs and cats
Our orthopaedic services cover a range of knee, hip, elbow and limb conditions. We explain the findings, discuss suitable options and help you understand what treatment and recovery could involve.
01 / KNEE
Cruciate ligament surgery
Cruciate ligament disease can cause hind-leg limping and knee pain. Treatment options include TPLO, tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) and extracapsular stabilisation, depending on your dog’s needs.
02 / KNEECAP
Luxating patella surgery
A kneecap that slips out of position can cause a skipping gait or persistent lameness. Surgery may be recommended to improve its alignment and stability, following assessment.
03 / BROKEN BONES
Fracture repair
We offer fracture repair using techniques such as plates, screws, pins and external fixation. The approach depends on the broken bone, the injury and your pet’s overall condition.
04 / HIP
Hip conditions
Our listed hip procedures include femoral head and neck excision (FHNE) and juvenile pubic symphysiodesis (JPS). Ask our team about assessment and suitability for your pet.
05 / ELBOW AND SHOULDER
Joint assessment and arthroscopy
We offer assessment for elbow and shoulder conditions, with arthroscopic procedures listed among our services. Contact us to discuss your pet’s symptoms and the appropriate next step.
06 / LIMB AND JOINT
Corrective surgery and joint fusion
Our surgical services also include selected limb alignment procedures and wrist or ankle joint fusion. Your vet will explain whether these options are appropriate.
Cruciate ligament care
TPLO surgery in Kent
A treatment option for dogs with an unstable knee caused by cruciate ligament disease.
TPLO stands for tibial plateau levelling osteotomy. The operation changes the angle at the top of the shin bone to improve knee stability. A plate and screws hold the bone in position while it heals.
Is TPLO right for my dog?
The recommendation depends on your dog’s examination, imaging, size, activity and general health. We discuss suitable alternatives, the expected recovery and possible complications before you make a decision.
Recovery requires controlled activity and follow-up care. Infection, implant problems and ongoing lameness are possible, and surgery does not eliminate existing arthritis.
A clear next step
From concern to a treatment plan
01 / ASSESS
Tell us what has changed
Let us know when the problem started and how it affects your pet. Bring previous reports or imaging if available. A short video of their movement at home can also be useful.
02 / UNDERSTAND
Discuss the options
Following assessment, we explain any further investigations and appropriate treatments. Ask us about the estimate, what it includes and the practical arrangements for your pet’s care.
03 / RECOVER
Plan for life at home
Ask your vet about pain relief, activity restrictions, wound care and review appointments. Rehabilitation should follow the treating vet’s advice and your pet’s progress.
